Happy HALLOWEEN
Tuesday, October 31st, 2006I did brew a Pumpkin Spice Ale for the season using a recipe I found online. I forced carbonated it this morning, so it should be ready to drink while handing out candy. Actually, I plan on drinking it very conservatively this month so it can be entered into the 2006 KITTS THANKSGIVING “GOLDEN SPATULA” COMPETITION, which is an annual tradition with the girl’s family. Typically a desert or a some exotic appetizer wins, but I think there are enough beer drinkers there to give me a shot.

Here are the basic ingredients for this batch. It was the most labor intensive brew I’ve made to date, mainly because of my poor pumpkin peeling skills. (If I had it to do over again I would roast them, then take off the skins). It’s kinda spicy, with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice. Yum.
No doubt OCTOBER-DECEMBER is the best beverage time of the year.
