R.I.P. My beloved Kegerator
Tuesday, February 12th, 2008It has been a sad month at the Shularbrau brewery. On Superbowl Sunday, of all times to have bad beer luck, I realized that my converted freezer had stopped working. After getting advise from several sources, I decided it was going to be cheaper to junk it than try to repair it.
So sad. It only lived to 1 1/2 years old.
So I rushed around and got a new freezer; same brand, same size, slightly different model with only a few annoying features (the damn cord comes out front instead of the back… what kind of sense does that make!?). Unfortunately, the lid hinges are slightly different, so I can’t swap the tops and avoid having to cut another freezer up to mount the tower.
In case you were wondering, I’ve spent any free “online” time for the last 4 months away from Dranktank and on Whiskerino… so there’s my excuse for the worst posting record since the beginning of Dranktank.
The good news: The beer is cold and plentiful at the Shularbrau garage. Christmas about killed my brewing spirit… pumping out 4 “holiday” batches including a Jalapeño, a Christmas Ale, a Maple Syrup Porter, and a German Alt. Since then, I’ve been trying some new processes and new recipes including a Kolsh, Irish Red, APA, Cream, and this week I brewed an Oatmeal Stout.
